The Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) held a seminar to observe Youm-e-Istehsal, marking six years since India’s controversial actions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The event brought together academics, experts from think tanks, human rights activists, youth leaders, and civil society members to discuss the ongoing dispute and its implications.

Distinguished speakers included Farooq Rahmani from the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), with Additional Foreign Secretary (Asia-Pacific) Ambassador Imran Siddiqui attending as Guest of Honour, and former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan serving as Chief Guest.

During the seminar, participants strongly condemned India’s actions taken on 5 August 2019, which they described as illegal and unilateral. They discussed the legal, human rights, and peace and security aspects of the Kashmir issue, emphasizing the adverse effects on the region’s population.

Speakers called for Pakistan to make effective use of the current international climate to advocate for a just and lasting resolution to the Kashmir dispute. The seminar drew a diverse audience, including a large number of university students, reflecting broad public interest in the issue.
