The Punjab Chief Minister’s internship program for agriculture graduates has been hailed as a transformative step to strengthen the province’s agricultural sector and empower young professionals. The initiative aims to provide practical experience and financial support to students, with the ultimate goal of fostering both economic growth and employment opportunities.

Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman expressed strong support for the program, stressing its importance at a meeting attended by university faculty and officials from the Agriculture Extension Department. He noted that the program offers much-needed hands-on training for agriculture graduates, while a generous monthly stipend helps reduce their financial burdens. Dr. Zaman underlined that agriculture remains a backbone of Pakistan’s economy, making the development of this sector critically important for the country’s future.

The internship program, now entering its second phase under the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, will select 2,000 agriculture graduate interns, each receiving a monthly stipend of Rs. 60,000. The opportunity is open to students pursuing B.Sc. (Honours) degrees in Agriculture or Agricultural Engineering, with an age limit of 25 years. Applicants are required to submit their completed application forms to the office of their local Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension). Further details and application forms are available from the Punjab Agriculture Department’s website and relevant departmental offices.

At the end of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman and Director Agriculture Extension Mr. Shahid Iftikhar Bukhari reaffirmed their commitment to collaborative efforts for the advancement of agriculture and thanked the Chief Minister for initiating this impactful program to support both sector development and youth employment in Punjab.
