The Pakistan Girl Guides Association (PGGA) teamed up with the International Islamic University Islamabad’s (IIUI) Urdu Department to deliver a six-day “Stay Safe” Community Service Project Training for senior female students. The program aimed to equip 64 participants with crucial skills in personal safety, emotional well-being, and disaster preparedness.
During the training, certified PGGA trainers led sessions on personal safety, online security, emotional health, and substance abuse prevention. A key feature was an emergency first aid workshop provided by Rescue 1122, giving students practical experience in life-saving techniques.
Addressing contemporary risks, the program included a module on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), which educated students about various types of disasters and effective mitigation strategies to foster resilience within their communities.
The event concluded with an energetic ceremony, organized by the students themselves, that incorporated cultural and nationalistic elements such as Independence Day celebrations under the theme “Marka-e-Haqq.” Leading faculty members, including Dr. Fauzia Janjua, Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Literature, and Dr. Saira, Chairperson of the Urdu Department, attended the ceremony.
Following the training, students will begin internships at educational institutions managed by the Federal Directorate of Education, Federal Government Educational Institutions, and selected schools in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Upon completing these placements, participants will receive certificates acknowledging their successful involvement in the program.
