Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) hosted a three-day training to enhance refugee protection and improve services for Afghan refugees in Pakistan. The event was part of the World Bank’s SIRA Project and marked the second cohort of the Refugees Learning Program.
The training brought together participants from the Chief Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees (CCAR) and provincial Commissionerates for Afghan Refugees. These staff members, who play a crucial role in refugee support and protection, attended workshops aimed at strengthening their skills and knowledge in handling refugee cases and delivering essential services.
The program was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan, and the Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON). Supported by international partners including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the initiative reflects ongoing efforts to address the challenges faced by Afghan refugees and improve the response of governmental agencies involved in their protection.
