Expert consultations were recently held in Tashkent to strengthen the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s response to security challenges. Delegates gathered to discuss the creation of new centers for countering threats, focusing on coordinated strategies among member states.

At the heart of the consultations was the development of draft agreements to establish a Universal Center aimed at tackling security threats faced by SCO member countries, as well as a dedicated Anti-Drugs Center. These centers are expected to enhance cooperation and joint action against terrorism, organized crime, and drug trafficking.

Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on how these new entities would operate, seeking to ensure streamlined collaboration and efficiency. The exchanges led to the preparation of draft interstate agreements, marking a significant step forward in formalizing collective security efforts within the organization.

The initiative reflects ongoing efforts by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to adapt and improve its mechanisms in response to evolving security threats in the region.
