Resilient Pakistan Independence Day Unites Youth and Minorities

The Center for Peace and Development, Balochistan (CPD) organized a vibrant Independence Day celebration in Quetta, bringing together over 120 participants from various faith communities, including youth, women, children, and persons with disabilities. The event, held at the Quetta Press Club, was part of the “Resilient & Rising Pakistan” campaign spearheaded by the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, in partnership with the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) and Paigham-e-Pakistan.

Notable community leaders and experts addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of unity, patriotism, and embracing Pakistan’s rich diversity. Speakers such as former MPA William Barkat, media professional Monas Khwaja, PPAF’s Khurram, Sir Jorjen, Hindu community representative Guru Baksh, Ambreen the educationist, and CPD CEO Nasrullah highlighted the significant roles that minorities and people of all backgrounds play in nation-building. Their messages focused on interfaith harmony and the collective responsibility to uphold democratic values and inclusivity.

The celebration included children’s recitation of Biblical verses, patriotic songs, and cultural performances, fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and national pride. A special segment honored persons with disabilities, recognizing their resilience and contributions to building an inclusive society.

Through its focus on diversity and interfaith harmony, the event not only marked Independence Day but also encouraged youth to actively participate in efforts to strengthen resilient and inclusive communities across Pakistan.
