The Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) convened a round table bringing together senior diplomats, policy practitioners, think tank experts, and academics to assess the first year of the Modi administration’s third term. Participants discussed concerns regarding India’s domestic governance and foreign policy, noting a negative trend that poses new challenges for the region.

Speakers emphasized that Pakistan should remain alert and prepared for possible further instability in its relationship with India, as well as broader regional dynamics. The gathering highlighted the importance of legal measures to protect Pakistan’s interests under the Indus Waters Treaty, a key accord governing water resources shared by the two countries. Participants also encouraged the pursuit of proactive diplomacy to strengthen Pakistan’s position and expand its diplomatic options in the face of evolving challenges.
