A high-level delegation led by Burkina Faso’s Minister of Energy visited the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) to explore opportunities for enhanced cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the fields of energy and minerals. The visit included a meeting with FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh, where both sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties and increase trade.

During the meeting, FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh highlighted the federation’s pivotal role in improving Pakistan’s economy and promoting trade. He described the visit of the Burkina Faso delegation as a significant step towards bolstering cooperation between the two nations. The president commended Burkina Faso’s efforts to expand relations and trade with Pakistan, emphasizing that such initiatives pave the way for greater economic collaboration.

Atif Ikram Sheikh noted the potential for both countries to enhance cooperation in the energy sector, given their rich reserves of natural minerals. He also pointed out that exchanging modern agricultural technologies could enable Pakistan and Burkina Faso to benefit from each other’s strengths in agriculture. Additionally, the FPCCI president asserted that stronger private sector collaboration would be an outcome of the minister’s visit and suggested that Burkina Faso could serve as a strategic gateway for Pakistani businesses seeking access to the vast African market.

Addressing the meeting, Burkina Faso’s Minister of Energy reaffirmed his country’s commitment to improving relations with Pakistan. He mentioned the recent appointment of an ambassador to Pakistan as a step towards deepening engagement and noted the many shared values between the two countries. The minister also emphasized Burkina Faso’s substantial resources in agriculture and minerals, which could be leveraged for mutual benefit. He suggested that Burkina Faso has the potential to be a key supplier of cotton for Pakistan’s textile industry, further strengthening commercial ties.
