Ahmed Nawaz Khan Reveals 14-Year Rise in Chief Justice of Pakistan’s Pension and Detailed Benefits for Widows

Senior journalist Ahmed Nawaz Khan, in his YouTube program Parchar, revealed that Pakistan’s Ministry of Law and Justice submitted a written report to the Senate detailing the post-retirement pension and perks of the Chief Justice of Pakistan. The information was provided during the Senate’s question hour and included a complete record of pension increases from 2010 to 2024.

According to Ahmed Nawaz Khan, the Ministry of Law stated that in 2010, the Chief Justice’s monthly pension was 560,000 rupees. It rose to 644,000 in 2011, 773,000 in 2012, 850,000 in 2013, 935,000 in 2014, 1,005,000 in 2015, 1,105,000 in 2016, 1,217,000 in 2017, 1,338,000 in 2018, and 1,452,000 in 2021. He further noted that in 2023, the pension reached 1,657,000 rupees, and in 2024 it saw a sharp increase to 2,390,000 rupees per month.

In his program, Ahmed Nawaz Khan also explained that the Ministry provided details of benefits granted to a judge’s widow. These include the provision of a government driver and orderly, 2,000 free electricity units, free water, 300 liters of petrol per month, and full exemption from income tax on the pension.

Ahmed Nawaz Khan said that all this information was given in written form to the Senate Secretariat and later shared with the media so the public could be informed about the financial and official benefits available after retirement from the country’s highest judicial office. He pointed out that over the past 14 years, there has been not only a significant increase in the pension amount but also consistent enhancements in the benefits package, reflecting both state policy and the dignity of the position.
