He underscored the sector’s current 3 percent contribution to national GDP and its creation of over 2.5 million jobs.

Khan highlighted that Pakistan is home to seven major car manufacturers, with more than 1,200 local auto parts producers supporting vehicle assembly within the country. While praising the industry’s progress, he acknowledged ongoing challenges such as high energy costs, limited technological access, and financing constraints that hinder further growth.

He stated that the government is committed to addressing these issues through policy reforms aimed at elevating Pakistan’s automotive sector to international standards. Khan reaffirmed the government’s dedication to implementing the New Energy Vehicle Policy 2025-30, designed to promote innovation and sustainability within the industry.

The government is also prioritizing support for research, development, and export promotion in order to increase the sector’s global competitiveness. Khan encouraged local industrialists to invest in advanced technology and research, emphasizing that a collaborative approach between the public and private sectors will be crucial in establishing Pakistan as a regional automotive hub.

He closed on an optimistic note, expressing confidence in a promising future for Pakistan’s automotive industry.
