Competition Law Awareness Session for CA and ACCA Students

The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) held an informative session on Competition Law for CA and ACCA students at Mannabi Business School, aiming to equip future finance professionals with a clear understanding of the legal principles that promote fair competition and consumer protection.

During the event, key officials from the CCP—including Director General Ahmed Qadir, Mohammad Salman Zafar, and Assistant Director Noman Ahmed—delivered detailed presentations on essential topics. These included the prevention of abuse of dominant market positions, anti-cartel measures, the regulation of deceptive marketing practices, and rules governing mergers and acquisitions. The speakers highlighted the role of competition law in encouraging economic growth and ensuring the welfare of consumers, while also tracing its historical development and significance.

Ms. Marryum Pervaiz, Head of Advocacy, served as the moderator for the session. Students participated actively, engaging with CCP representatives and raising in-depth questions about enforcement mechanisms. The officials addressed these queries thoroughly, fostering a better understanding of how competition law is implemented in Pakistan.

The CCP acknowledged the support of Mr. Anas Khan, Head of the ACCA Department and Mannabi Industry Linkages & Employability, as well as faculty members, for their role in advancing awareness of Competition Law among aspiring finance professionals.
