Sheikh Ameer Abdul Qadeer Awan, head of the Naqshbandia Owaisia Sufi order and leader of Tanzeem Al-Ikhwan Pakistan, has emphasized the need for immense national effort and unity to address the country’s challenges. Speaking at a “Meet the Press” event at the National Press Club Islamabad, he highlighted the crucial role of the media in nation-building and urged Pakistanis to embrace the teachings and character of the Prophet Muhammad as the path to success and societal improvement.
Abdul Qadeer Awan asserted that nations that achieve progress adopt principles of development, but Pakistan has drifted from these foundations. He noted that by abandoning positive virtues and the example set by the Prophet, the nation is struggling with decline and hardship. He criticized the attempt to model life after non-Islamic systems, arguing that instead, people should align their actions with the Prophet’s example.
He described the current situation in the country as dire, with natural disasters such as floods causing widespread destruction and hardship for ordinary citizens. Political instability, the erosion of moral values, and growing social gaps were cited as pressing issues. He attributed many of these problems to a departure from the teachings of the Quran and an Islamic way of life.
Abdul Qadeer Awan called on all sectors of society—including politicians, the media, and professionals from various fields—to fulfill their responsibilities with honesty and a constructive, positive approach. He stressed the importance of consistency in words and actions, purification of heart and mind, and leading by example, noting that the noble character of the Prophet Muhammad remains a guiding light for humanity.
He also paid tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces, recalling a father of a martyred captain who expressed willingness to dedicate all his sons to the nation’s defense. He urged citizens to respect all aspects of the national flag and demonstrated appreciation for the country’s military.
Reflecting on external interference, he stated that foreign intervention has weakened Pakistan, but recent military successes demonstrate the resilience of the nation’s armed forces. He commended their bravery and dedicated a prayer for the continued progress and well-being of the country.
Finally, Abdul Qadeer Awan urged respect for the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal and adherence to the Prophet’s teachings. He expressed hope that people with positive and constructive mindsets would join forces to promote unity and harmony for Pakistan’s bright future.
