A delegation of parliamentarians led by National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq visited the National Emergencies Operations Center (NEOC) to review the country’s preparedness and response strategies for the ongoing monsoon and potential flooding.
During the visit, officials from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) provided the delegation with a comprehensive briefing. The presentation covered the current flood situation, early warning systems, ongoing rescue and relief efforts, and preventive measures implemented to reduce risks and ensure public safety.
NDMA Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik outlined that the authority is operating around the clock in close coordination with both civilian and military departments. He highlighted that, so far, hundreds of thousands of people have been safely relocated from flood-prone areas to secure locations as part of these efforts.
The visiting parliamentarians expressed their appreciation for NDMA’s initiatives and their efficient handling of natural disasters. They also assured the authority of full national-level support and cooperation in response to future emergencies.
