Experts from the World Health Organization, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and regional WHO EMRO offices have joined forces with the Government of Pakistan to evaluate the country’s current capabilities and policies for cancer treatment. Their collaborative assessment aims to identify strengths and gaps within Pakistan’s healthcare system, particularly in the context of cancer care.

As part of this initiative, WHO and St. Jude’s are working closely with Pakistani authorities to support the delivery of free cancer medicines to children in need. The partnership targets the provision of life-saving medications for approximately 8,000 children each year, addressing a critical healthcare challenge and expanding access to essential treatments for young patients across the country.

This effort underscores the commitment of international health organizations and the Government of Pakistan to improve health outcomes, reduce disparities in care for pediatric cancer, and strengthen local medical infrastructure for the long term.
