Acting President Yousuf Raza Gilani hosted a senators luncheon to discuss politics, flood relief and parliamentary cooperation at President House.

Islamabad, 30 September 2025 — Acting President Yousuf Raza Gilani hosted a senators luncheon at the President House where representatives from across the political spectrum met to review the country’s political climate, regional and international developments, and ongoing relief and rehabilitation work in flood-affected areas. The Senators Luncheon provided a forum for sustained parliamentary dialogue on immediate and long-term priorities.

Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry briefed attendees on matters within their portfolios and engaged in detailed discussions with senators, underlining the need for coordinated legislative and executive action on pressing issues. The session focused on practical steps to accelerate flood relief, strengthen institutional response and ensure effective oversight.

Among those present were senior parliamentary figures including Senator Sherry Rehman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Senator Manzoor Ahmad Kakar of the Balochistan Awami Party, Senator Ali Zafar of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Senator Atta-ur-Rehman of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), Senator Hidayatullah of the Awami National Party and Senator Aamir Chishti of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement. The gathering reflected a cross-party engagement aimed at building consensus on national priorities.

Addressing the gathering, Acting President Gilani emphasized that political dialogue and cooperation among parliamentary representatives are essential for resolving national challenges.
