Afzal Babar tribute held at National Press Club Islamabad honoring his decades of service to teachers and private education.

A solemn condolence reference was held at the National Press Club in Islamabad to honour the memory of eminent educationist and writer Afzal Babar. The event, organized by the Private Schools Network Islamabad, paid tribute to Dr Afzal Babar’s selfless efforts and more than three decades of service to teachers, students, and private educational institutions.

The ceremony began with a recitation from the Holy Quran followed by a naat, setting a respectful tone as representatives from education departments, presidents and office-bearers of various school associations, leaders of educational foundations, intellectuals, teachers, and members of the press gathered to express their condolences. Speakers praised Afzal Babar’s visionary leadership and his role in uniting private schools across the capital.

Founding members and zonal presidents of the Private Schools Network Islamabad, along with central executive members and ordinary members, attended in large numbers and offered heartfelt tributes. They highlighted how Afzal Babar provided platforms that strengthened the bond between education and service, and how his initiatives supported capacity building within the private education sector.

In his presidential address, newly elected central president Maqbool Hussain Dar thanked attendees and vowed to carry forward Afzal Babar’s mission with sincerity, unity, and renewed determination so the network remains a champion of education and character building. Speakers recalled Dr Afzal Babar’s practical contributions to policy dialogue and institutional collaboration that benefited teachers and students alike.

The reference concluded with prayers for forgiveness and a collective pledge to continue the work inspired by Afzal Babar’s lifelong commitment to education. Attendees resolved to uphold his vision for a stronger, service-oriented private education network in Islamabad and beyond.
