Federal Minister for IT and Telecom, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, has announced the launch of AI Regulatory Sandboxes, a new initiative designed to accelerate the growth of artificial intelligence in Pakistan. The project aims to provide a secure and adaptable testing environment for innovators working in AI technologies.
The initiative plans to empower 50 companies by 2027, offering them the resources and regulatory support needed to explore and refine their AI solutions. Key elements of the program include the development of foundational infrastructure such as Compute Grids, Data Centers, and AI Repositories to support ongoing research and application.
By encouraging both innovation and global collaboration, Pakistan seeks to significantly enhance its AI ecosystem. The country aims to develop 50 new artificial intelligence models annually through this framework, positioning itself as a competitive player in the international AI landscape.
