Al Khidmat Unveils IVD 3.0 with 5,000 Youth Target, 70,000 Volunteers Nationwide and Rs 22 Billion Global Relief Effort
Rawalpindi: Al Khidmat Foundation launched preparations for International Volunteer Day (IVD) 3.0 with a powerful call for national youth mobilisation, announcing that more than 5,000 students from 60 universities, 8,000 volunteers in North Punjab, and 70,000 volunteers nationwide are already registered for Pakistan’s largest volunteer driven welfare event. The press briefing, led by Al Khidmat Foundation North Punjab President Rizwan Ahmed, outlined the organisation’s expanding humanitarian footprint, its multibillion rupee global relief operations, and its mission to steer Pakistan’s youth away from pessimism toward constructive national service.
Addressing journalists, Rizwan Ahmed said the IVD 3.0 celebration, set to be held at the Pak China Friendship Center, aims to channel the energy of young Pakistanis through IT, digital empowerment, volunteer leadership and community welfare projects. He emphasised that the organisation’s core identity rests on service, transparency and trust, adding that Al Khidmat has become an international symbol of Pakistan’s commitment to humanitarian assistance. He highlighted that the foundation is invited to respond to disasters across the world, representing a narrative of Pakistan as a country that not just receives a reputation strengthened during search and rescue missions in Turkey and Afghanistan.
The briefing carried major financial disclosures about Al Khidmat’s international humanitarian efforts. Rizwan revealed that the organisation has already spent Rs 7 billion in Gaza relief operations and now intends to expand this commitment to Rs 15 billion under the “Rebuild Gaza” initiative. He added that 350 Palestinian students, including 195 medical students, are currently studying in Pakistani universities through a partnership involving the Government of Pakistan, PMDC and HEC fully supported by Al Khidmat.
Rizwan Ahmed described Pakistan’s humanitarian power as a national asset that must be strengthened by empowering young people. He said it is essential to replace the rising trend of hopelessness symbolised by the phrase “Pakistan se zinda bhaag” with a renewed belief in service, self reliance and leadership. He noted that Pakistan’s middle class, when empowered, becomes the engine of national reconstruction. He added that Bano Qabil Al Khidmat programmes in Northern Punjab have crossed 2 million participants, demonstrating the massive public response to community driven initiatives.
The press briefing detailed the operational scale behind IVD 3.0. More than 1,500 online registrations have already been received, while 1,000 additional participants from 12 districts of North Punjab have confirmed attendance. Each university has established volunteer ambassador teams, with groups of 10 to 20 students responsible for on campus activation campaigns. These teams will run registration desks using marketing material provided during the briefing, including brochures, posters and standees.
Journalists questioned the foundation’s youth strategy, prompting Rizwan to explain that volunteer recruitment is open through an online portal, with individuals deployed according to their skills. He said that engineers, educationists, medical professionals and other specialists contribute to projects aligned with their expertise. He stressed that the Pakistani diaspora abroad is heavily involved, contributing a significant share to Al Khidmat’s operational resources.
The event also highlighted the organisation’s philosophy of “Serve Humanity, Build Pakistan,” which Rizwan framed as a movement grounded in faith, compassion and practical solutions. He said leadership is not defined by government office but by the willingness to serve. Al Khidmat, despite being an NGO, has consistently led from the front during disasters, proving that service is not dependent on power or position.
The briefing concluded with instructions for university ambassadors to record testimonials, upload promotional content, and mobilise their campuses ahead of IVD 3.0. Volunteers were guided toward networking,
