Ambassador Mortensen has spent a packed first month in Pakistan, formally presenting her credentials to the president and immediately engaging with senior leadership to deepen bilateral ties. Her early meetings included the Prime Minister and the Federal Ministers for Finance, Maritime Affairs and Commerce, where Denmark reaffirmed its focus on green solutions, sustainable infrastructure and stronger trade links with Pakistan.
The ambassador hosted an inaugural reception at the Danish Residence titled An Evening of Music & Friendship, which brought together Danish partners and Pakistani artists for a cultural exchange. Performances featured collaborations between Danish musicians and young talent from Hunza alongside a qawwali group from Lahore, underscoring people-to-people connections alongside official diplomacy.
Beyond formal meetings and cultural events, Ambassador Mortensen made her first television appearance and visited the lively Lok Mela to connect with local communities. She also filmed an introduction video for social media and joined embassy colleagues for a friendly cricket match, mixing outreach with lighter public engagement that resonates locally.
Her first intercity trip to Lahore and Narowal included the launch of a Denmark-funded student incubation centre at a local university, attended by the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives. The initiative reflects Denmark’s commitment to education, entrepreneurship and practical support for Pakistan’s youth.
One month in, Ambassador Mortensen is fully engaged across political, cultural and development fronts, aiming to strengthen the Denmark-Pakistan partnership on green priorities, trade and people-centered cooperation.
