On 24 October 2025 H.E. Mr. Akamatsu Shuichi, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, was the chief guest at the inauguration of the Lahore Floritage Sogetsu Study Group’s Grand Annual Exhibition in Lahore.
At the ceremony Ambassador Akamatsu, on behalf of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, presented the Foreign Minister Commendation 2025 to Ms. Neveen Syed, chairperson of the Lahore Floritage Sogetsu Study Group, in recognition of her significant efforts to build cultural ties between Japan and Pakistan.
Ms. Neveen Syed has worked with dedication to introduce Japanese culture to Pakistani audiences by organising Ikebana flower arrangement classes and exhibitions across the country, bringing traditional Sogetsu techniques to new students and enthusiasts.
The award and the exhibition highlight the importance of cultural diplomacy and people to people exchange, with the Foreign Minister Commendation underlining Lahore’s role as a platform for sustained Japan Pakistan cultural engagement and future collaborative activities.
