The SICAS Punjab Junior Tennis Championship at the Punjab Tennis Academy in Bagh-e-Jinnah produced standout performances as rising stars claimed top honours across age groups. The Punjab Junior Tennis event saw commanding displays and close encounters that underline the depth of young talent in the province.
Amir Mazari dominated the Boys U-18 singles final, defeating Asad Zaman 6-0, 6-2 to lift the title. Amir’s aggressive baseline game and precise serving set the tone throughout the match. In the Boys U-18 doubles final Amir, partnered with Haroon Arif, fell to the pairing of Asad Zaman and Abdullah Pirzada, who secured the win 6-1.
Hajra Sohail emerged as the tournament’s most impressive performer in the girls’ draw, becoming a double champion by winning both the Girls U-18 and Girls U-14 titles. Hajra defeated Bismal Zia 6-4 in the U-18 final and earlier edged Bismal again 6-2 in the U-14 final, reinforcing her status as one of Punjab’s brightest junior prospects.
In other finals, M. Umar Ali won the Boys U-14 singles over Ohad-e-Mustafa by scores of 5-4, 5-3 and then teamed with Ahmad Fareed Yawar to take the Boys U-14 doubles, defeating M. Muaz and M. Ayan 4-2. Muhammad Muaz secured the Boys U-12 singles crown with a 6-4 victory against Muhammad Aayan, while Khadija Khalil claimed the Girls U-12 title defeating Aiman Rehan 6-2. In the youngest boys category, Salman Pirzada beat Daniyal Abdullah 6-0 to win the Boys I-10 final.
The Seniors 45+ doubles final proved a tight contest as Talha Waheed (GO Petroleum) and Ashar Khan edged veteran duo Shehryar Salamat and Hadi Hussain 8-6. The match carried extra significance as Salamat and Hussain had represented Pakistan at the ITF Masters World Championship in Turkey earlier this year.
Beginner events highlighted promising newcomers with Iman Monoo defeating Peershay Awan 6-1 in the U-12 beginner final and Arianna Ahmad overcoming Nooriya 6-2 in the U-14 beginner final. In mixed events, the U-8 category awarded Gold to Musa Pirzada, Silver to Faiz Pirzada and Bronze to Ibrahim Faizan, while the U-6 mixed medals went to Sara Pirzada (Gold), Om-e-Zahra (Silver) and Haniya (Bronze).
The Prize Distribution Ceremony was presided over by Shehryar Salamat, Director of SICAS, who served as chief guest and presented trophies to winners and runners-up.
