The District Health Office in Islamabad, representing the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination, convened a meeting with Nutrition International and Premier Research (Prime) Consulting to review antenatal care and multiple micro nutrient supplementation service delivery, with the aim of improving maternal and newborn health outcomes.

The session brought together officials from the District Health Office and ministry alongside technical staff from Nutrition International and Prime Consulting. Participants examined current approaches to delivering antenatal care (ANC) and multiple micronutrient supplements (MMS) to pregnant women across Islamabad, assessing how services are reaching target populations and where improvements are needed.

Discussion during the meeting focused on the quality and coverage of ANC services, the effectiveness of MMS distribution, and measures to strengthen service delivery systems. Stakeholders explored ways to enhance health worker capacity, ensure reliable supply chains for supplements, and increase community awareness so that more pregnant women can access recommended care and nutrition.

Participants also reviewed monitoring and evaluation practices to track program performance and identify service gaps. Emphasis was placed on evidence-based strategies and coordinated efforts between the district health office, the ministry, and partner organizations to maximize impact on maternal and newborn health.

As a result of the review, attendees outlined follow-up actions to strengthen ANC and MMS delivery, including further technical support, targeted interventions where coverage is low, and continued coordination among partners to accelerate improvements in maternal and newborn outcomes.
