**Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Launches Anti-Corruption Inquiry Into Illegal Riverbank Constructions**

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Anti-Corruption Department has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the issuance of No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) for constructions along the banks of the Swat River and other major rivers in the province. The inquiry will examine all ongoing and past approvals, with the aim of identifying irregularities and holding those responsible to account.

According to the department, any individuals or officials found to be involved in issuing illegal NOCs or facilitating unauthorized construction within the regulated limits of riverbanks will face strict legal action. The investigation is particularly focused on violations of the River Protection Act, which prohibits construction and encroachments within certain boundaries to safeguard natural waterways.

Officials emphasized that the scope of the inquiry also includes examining the failure to remove illegal constructions or encroachments by the district administration. If evidence emerges of collusion or negligence on the part of local government officials, they too will be subject to stringent disciplinary measures.

The Anti-Corruption Department reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all parties involved in facilitating or overlooking violations along the riverbanks are held accountable under the law. This move is part of broader efforts to enforce environmental regulations and protect public resources across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
