The Pakistan Sports Board, in partnership with the Pakistan Bodybuilding Federation and anti-doping experts, recently hosted an Anti-Doping Awareness Seminar designed to educate athletes and stakeholders about the dangers associated with banned substances in sports. The event specifically addressed the increasing risks of performance-enhancing drug misuse in bodybuilding and emphasized the importance of maintaining clean and ethical practices within the sports community.
The seminar featured prominent speakers, including Mr. Shahid Islam, Deputy Director General of the Pakistan Sports Board, and Director Coordination of the Pakistan Anti-Doping Body; Mr. Sohail Anwar, Secretary General of the Pakistan Bodybuilding Federation; Mr. Nasrullah Rana, Director of National Federations at the Pakistan Sports Board; Mrs. Qurat-ul-Ain, Sports Psychologist and Liaison Officer for the Pakistan Anti-Doping Body; Ms. Maham Ayman, Junior Liaison Officer at the PSB; and Dr. Nabeel Ahmed, a nutrition expert. These experts highlighted the urgent need for comprehensive awareness programs and education to ensure athletes adhere to the regulations set by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Throughout the seminar, speakers underscored the significant health and career risks posed by the use of prohibited substances in sports, urging both athletes and coaches to embrace fair play and uphold the integrity of competition. They stressed that strict compliance with WADA guidelines is essential for the protection of athletes and the reputation of Pakistani sports on the international stage.
In recognition of their commitment to clean sports, participants from various regions across Pakistan were awarded certificates for their active engagement in the seminar. The initiative is part of broader efforts by the Pakistan Sports Board and its partners to foster a culture of integrity, fair play, and long-term athlete development free from the influence of doping.
