A 19-day certificate course on Applied Biomedical Artificial Intelligence, jointly organized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s COMSTECH and Ningbo University of China, has concluded in Islamabad. The program trained more than 350 participants from over 35 OIC member states and other countries, offering a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills to researchers and scientists.
The concluding ceremony was held at the COMSTECH Secretariat, where Professor Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, the Coordinator General of COMSTECH, expressed his gratitude to Ningbo University and its faculty, including Professor Dr. Zhao, Professor Dr. Liu Xinmin, Professor Dr. Yuzong Chen, and Dr. Wang, for their key contributions to the course. He also praised the participants for their enthusiasm and dedication, highlighting their role in making the program a true success.
Dr. Shahid Mahmud, Advisor at COMSTECH, acknowledged the expertise of Ningbo University’s visiting scientists and commended the active involvement of participants throughout the 19 days. He emphasized that the course was unique in its combination of in-depth theory and hands-on training, equipping attendees with valuable skills for applying artificial intelligence tools in biomedical research and professional settings.
Participants such as Huda Sarwar, a faculty member at Rawalpindi Women University, shared positive feedback on the learning experience. She noted that the curriculum was well-structured and interactive, enabling her to understand and apply important concepts, including word embedding techniques, biomolecule encoding, and the use of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for biomedical data analysis.
At the closing event, physical participants received certificates while online attendees were awarded digital certificates in recognition of their successful completion of the course.
Featuring sessions led by prominent scientists from both Ningbo University and COMSTECH, the program is expected to foster long-term collaboration and drive innovation in the field of biomedical artificial intelligence among OIC member countries.
