Iraq, Pakistan, and Iran have agreed to strengthen coordination to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims (zaireen) during the upcoming Arbaeen religious observance. The commitment was made during a trilateral meeting of Deputy Ministers for Interior held in Baghdad, with Pakistan represented by Secretary Interior Muhammad Khurram Agha.
During the discussions, officials from the three countries explored practical measures for improving the management and protection of pilgrims traveling between their respective borders for Arbaeen, one of the largest annual religious gatherings in the world. The participants focused on collaborative approaches to facilitate safe and organized travel for zaireen, highlighting the importance of security arrangements and efficient border management.
All sides emphasized the need for closer coordination in the lead-up to Arbaeen and agreed to maintain open channels of communication. The meeting underscored a shared commitment to enhancing regional cooperation and ensuring a secure environment for religious pilgrims.
