**Pakistan and UK Convene Seventh Round of Strategic Arms Control Dialogue in London**
Senior officials from Pakistan and the United Kingdom held comprehensive talks in London as part of the seventh round of their bilateral dialogue on arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation. Ambassador Tahir Andrabi, Pakistan’s Additional Foreign Secretary for Arms Control, Disarmament, and International Security, led the Pakistani delegation, while Ambassador Stephen Lillie, Director of Defence and International Security, represented the UK.
The dialogue focused on a range of pressing global and regional security issues, emphasizing the importance of strategic stability in South Asia, particularly in the aftermath of recent escalations between Pakistan and India. Both sides assessed the evolving security landscape and exchanged perspectives on how to reinforce peace and stability in the region.
Discussions also encompassed key multilateral disarmament and non-proliferation frameworks, including initiatives at the United Nations, the Conference on Disarmament (CD), the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), and the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), under the oversight of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). Export controls, the impact of emerging technologies, and the peaceful applications of nuclear technology were also prominent topics on the agenda.
