**Pakistan Begins Distribution of Federal Artists Welfare Fund, Benefiting Over a Thousand Artists**
The National Heritage and Culture Division (NHCD) has commenced the distribution of the Federal Government Artists Welfare Fund (FGAWF) for the fiscal year 2024-25, delivering crucial financial assistance to artists across Pakistan. This initiative aims to support those in the artistic community who play a vital role in preserving and enriching the country’s cultural heritage.
According to official sources, the fund disbursement is being carried out in phases, with a substantial portion already allocated or in the process of being released. In the initial phase, 60 artists received individual payments ranging from Rs. 800,000 to Rs. 130,000, amounting to a collective total of Rs. 16.52 million. Cheques for these recipients were issued up to June 30, 2025.
Following this initial phase, cheques have been signed for 140 additional artists, each set to receive amounts between Rs. 100,000 and Rs. 75,000. The total for this phase stands at Rs. 12.33 million, with disbursements expected to be processed within the next two days. These payments are scheduled to be forwarded to the Accountant General Pakistan Revenues for timely distribution.
The Federal Government’s Artists Welfare Fund Steering Committee has approved financial assistance for 1,086 deserving artists nationwide. These approvals are the result of a thorough evaluation and shortlisting process, ensuring that artists from various disciplines and backgrounds receive the necessary support.
With this initiative, the government reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s cultural legacy and supporting the wellbeing of artists whose creative contributions are considered integral to the national identity.
