Ticket prices for the Pakistan-India Asia Cup clash in Dubai have surged to extraordinary levels on the resale market, with widely circulated reports suggesting individual tickets reached as high as Rs 1.242 million. Major outlets have reported varying but similarly steep markups on secondary platforms, prompting questions about resale inflation and the gap between official prices and what fans are paying.
Several news organizations cited dramatic resale figures for the high-profile fixture. Jang News reported resale listings as high as Rs 1.3 million, while an often-shared figure of Rs 1.242 million (12.42 lakh) circulated across social media and some media channels. These numbers stand in stark contrast to face-value ticket costs and have drawn attention to the role of the secondary market in pricing.
Official ticket categories carried much lower base prices. General Enclosure tickets were listed at 750 dirhams (around Rs 57,000) and Premium tickets at 3,500 dirhams (about Rs 270,000), yet both categories reportedly experienced steep markups on resale platforms as demand outstripped supply.
Reports also highlighted expensive hospitality and VIP offerings. The Economic Times cited certain VIP packages priced at approximately Rs 257,815 for two seats, while Dunya News said hospitality tickets ranged from about $212 (roughly Rs 72,000) up to $1,700 (about Rs 577,000), depending on the package and seating.
No official body has confirmed the exact Rs 1.242 million figure, and analysts warn that such headline numbers may reflect temporary spikes on resale sites rather than verified sales at those prices. Market observers note that scarcity, intense rivalry between supporters, and online hype commonly drive secondary-market prices far above face value for marquee cricket events.
The episode underlines the intense demand for Pakistan-India matches, where fan interest routinely overwhelms available tickets. Experts urge caution in interpreting sensational price reports and stress the importance of distinguishing between official ticketing information and speculative resale listings.
