Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, was presented with a Tri Services Guard of Honor at the General Headquarters to mark his institution as Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces. Admiral Naveed Ashraf, NI, NI(M), Chief of the Naval Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Air Staff, and senior officers from the three services attended the ceremony at GHQ.
Addressing officers of the tri-services, Asim Munir highlighted the extraordinary courage and conviction shown by the Pakistani nation and paid tribute to the professionalism of the Armed Forces during Marka-e-Haq. He observed that the Multi Domain Operations of Marka-e-Haq have become a textbook example and a case study for future warfare, and he paid deep homage to the martyrs who remain the pride of the nation.
Emphasizing the need for formalized tri-services integration and synergy, the new Chief of Defense Forces stressed that the Armed Forces must align with evolving realities of warfare that now extend across cyberspace, the electro-magnetic spectrum, outer space, Information Operations, Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing. He described the newly instituted CDF Headquarters as a historic step that will provide the integration, coherence and coordination required to address the dynamics of the future threat spectrum under a unified tri-services umbrella.
In closing remarks, Asim Munir outlined a vision for the Armed Forces to be culturally futuristic and combat ready, a force that deters aggression and commands the full confidence of the nation. The ceremony also included presentation of awards to heroes of Marka-e-Haq from the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force in recognition of their valor during the conflict.
