District Health Office Gilgit led an awareness walk to boost MR vaccination uptake, urging parents to vaccinate children during the upcoming campaign.

The District Health Office Gilgit organized an awareness walk today to mobilize communities ahead of the upcoming Measles-Rubella campaign, aiming to reinforce the importance of timely MR vaccination for children across the district.

The procession was led by the Director EPI Gilgit-Baltistan, the Director Services and the District Health Officer Gilgit together with a World Health Organization team. Supervisors, skilled personnel, frontline health workers and media representatives participated, carrying MR campaign banners and sharing clear information about the vaccine.

Organisers told residents that the MR vaccination is essential to protect children from measles and rubella, urging parents to ensure their children receive doses during the campaign window. Public messaging emphasized vaccine safety, timely immunization and the role of families in improving community health.

At the conclusion of the walk all participants reiterated their commitment to fully support the campaign and to work with local teams to ensure successful implementation across Gilgit district.
