In Islamabad on 13 February 2026, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq extended his congratulations to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its leader Tarique Rahman on their BNP victory in Bangladesh’s general elections, conveying his best wishes to the party and its leadership.
Speaker Sadiq said the BNP victory by a large majority reflects the confidence placed in the party by the people of Bangladesh. He underlined that peaceful and transparent elections are a sign of democratic consolidation and praised the conduct of the electoral process.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening historical, fraternal and multifaceted ties with Bangladesh, the Speaker emphasized that enhanced parliamentary engagement and closer institutional contacts will help build mutual trust and cooperation between the two countries.
Following the BNP victory, Speaker Sadiq expressed his desire for close collaboration with the new Bangladeshi government at both public and parliamentary levels, noting that Pakistan and Bangladesh share an important joint role in promoting peace, stability and development across South Asia.
