Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq met a Palestinian delegation led by Dr. Mahmoud Siddiqi Al-Habbash, Advisor on Religious Affairs to the President of Palestine, at Parliament House to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and reaffirm Pakistan’s political and moral support for the Palestinian people. Both sides emphasized the need for urgent international pressure to stop violence, restore humanitarian access, and pursue a two-state solution. The visit included a Friday sermon at the Parliament House mosque and a prayer led by the Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
During the meeting, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq condemned what he described as decades of violence against unarmed Palestinians, calling the situation a grave human tragedy and a clear violation of basic human rights. He said Pakistan has consistently supported the Palestinian cause through parliamentary resolutions and frequent debates, and he welcomed the growing international protests against Israeli actions. He added that the massacre of women and children in Gaza is a test of the global conscience and criticized the reported use of food aid as a weapon and the obstruction of humanitarian relief.
Ayaz Sadiq stressed that raising a voice for Palestine is not only a religious duty but also a moral and humanitarian obligation. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to stand with the Palestinian people on moral, political, and diplomatic fronts, and thanked Palestinians for their solidarity with Pakistan during recent floods. He also said he had raised the issue with regional and international interlocutors, including the chairman of the Saudi Shura Council.
Dr. Mahmoud Siddiqi Al-Habbash thanked the Speaker and the Pakistani people for their principled and unwavering support. He said the people of Gaza deeply value Pakistan’s solidarity and urged stronger international action to halt Israeli aggression and deliver urgent humanitarian assistance. He praised Pakistan’s political, military, and religious leadership for keeping the Palestinian cause on the global agenda and expressed hope that Pakistan would support forthcoming international efforts, including a United Nations conference on the two-state solution.
On the invitation of the Speaker, Dr. Al-Habbash delivered the Friday sermon at the Parliament House mosque, and the Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque led the congregational prayer. The service was attended by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Federal Minister Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, former special assistant Maulana Tahir Ashrafi, parliamentarians, and numerous officials from the National Assembly and Senate secretariats.
