Azerbaijan visit: Ambassador Farhadov met Dr Musadik Malik in Islamabad to discuss climate cooperation and invite Pakistan to the World Urban Forum in Baku.

His Excellency Khazar Farhadov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, called on Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Dr Musadik Malik at his Islamabad office. The Azerbaijan visit underscored sustained diplomatic engagement between the two countries on environmental and urban issues.

The Ambassador commended Dr Musadik Malik for his firm stance at the ECO meeting on climate change, highlighting the minister’s emphasis on collective global responsibility and concerns about inconsistencies in international climate commitments. He acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive and vocal role in advocating equitable climate action for developing countries.

Both sides reaffirmed deep rooted brotherly relations and noted the strong cultural and historical ties that bind Pakistan and Azerbaijan. The conversation reflected mutual interest in strengthening cooperation on shared priorities related to climate resilience and sustainable development.

Ambassador Farhadov invited Dr Musadik Malik to participate in the Thirteenth Session of the World Urban Forum in Baku from 17 to 22 May 2026, a platform expected to address the climate urban nexus, resilience building and pathways to environmentally sustainable urban development. Dr Musadik Malik welcomed the invitation and stressed the importance of continued collaboration between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijan visit highlights Pakistan’s active role in climate diplomacy and opens opportunities for bilateral engagement on urban resilience and sustainable planning. Participation in the World Urban Forum could advance practical cooperation and shared learning between the two countries on climate sensitive urban policies.
