PESHAWAR, March 27, 2026 — Baghdada Hockey Club Mardan secured a 4-2 victory over Islamia College University Peshawar in an exhibition hockey match held to mark the 75th anniversary of Pak China friendship. The contest drew a large, enthusiastic crowd and featured competitive play from both sides.
Professor Dr. Ahmad Ur Rahman Saljoqi, Vice Chancellor of Islamia College University, attended as the chief guest and congratulated the people of China on the landmark anniversary, calling China a time-tested and trusted friend of Pakistan. He used the occasion to highlight the importance of Pak China friendship and invited university sports teams from China to visit Pakistan to deepen sporting ties.
Afsar Khan, captain of the Islamia College University side, said he was proud to lead his team on such a meaningful occasion and underlined that sporting exchanges strengthen the Pak China friendship at grassroots level. Murad Khan, captain of Baghdada Hockey Club Mardan, commended China Window for organizing the event and extended congratulations to the Chinese hockey community on the anniversary.
Players and spectators chanted slogans celebrating the Pak China friendship throughout the match, which remained closely contested as both teams displayed high-quality hockey. Despite strong opposition from Islamia College, Baghdada secured the win with disciplined play and timely finishes.
Organizers said the match is part of a series of events coordinated by China Window, with a football fixture scheduled for next week as part of the ongoing celebrations aimed at promoting sports cooperation and people-to-people contact under the banner of Pak China friendship.
