Quetta, 21 January 2026 — The Government of Balochistan and the National Bank of Pakistan signed a memorandum of understanding to provide electric scooters on subsidized installments to students, working women and the general public, aiming to ease daily travel and encourage sustainable transport.
The MoU was formalised at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Quetta with Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, Provincial Minister Mir Sadiq Umrani, senior provincial officials and senior representatives from the National Bank of Pakistan in attendance. The agreement outlines affordable payment plans and targeted outreach to ensure the electric scooter programme reaches those who need it most.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti said the scheme represents a meaningful step toward safe, affordable and dignified commuting, particularly for students and working women. He highlighted that wider adoption of the electric scooter will help cut daily travel burdens while promoting eco friendly transport that supports cost effective mobility across the province.
The provincial government said the initiative reflects its focus on public welfare, empowerment of women and youth and inclusive development. Officials added that the subsidised electric scooter plan will be complemented by further projects designed to deliver tangible benefits and long term social and economic progress across Balochistan.
