On 10 February 2026 a 21-member delegation of students and female students from Balochistan Residential College Othal, accompanied by six faculty members, visited Parliament House Islamabad where the Senate Secretariat welcomed the group for an organised Senate visit.
During the visit the delegation toured the Senate Museum and received a detailed briefing from Senator Asad Qasim on the constitutional structure of the upper house, the lawmaking process, the duties of the Senate, the system for selecting members and the role of standing committees, offering students a practical view of parliamentary functions.
Senator Asad Qasim addressed the students, describing youth as the nation’s bright future and urging the new generation to contribute positively to national development and democratic stability. The briefing covered Pakistan’s parliamentary system, various stages of legislation and the constitutional powers vested in the Senate, reinforcing the educational purpose of the Senate visit.
The visitors were shown an informational documentary on the history of the upper house and expressed interest in the museum’s statues of prominent national figures and historical photographs that chart parliamentary evolution, deepening their appreciation for institutional memory.
The delegation proceeded to the Senate Hall to observe the proceedings of a sitting, where Senate officials explained parliamentary traditions, decorum and the rules that guide legislative business, providing first-hand exposure to chamber practice during the Senate visit.
A focused presentation at Gali-e-Dastoor gave students a broader narrative of Pakistan’s parliamentary history and democratic development, and the group recorded a photo with Senator Asad Qasim to mark the occasion.
At the conclusion of the programme the students and faculty commended the Senate Secretariat for its hospitality and the informative arrangements, describing the study visit as purposeful and educational and thanking officials for their guidance during the Senate visit.
