ISLAMABAD: The three-day annual Urs celebrations of the eminent spiritual saint of the subcontinent, Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif, popularly known as Bari Imam Sarkar (RA), are continuing at Noorpur Shahan.
On the first day of the Urs, a Mehfil-e-Naat was held in which prominent Naat reciters presented devotional poetry and added to the spiritual atmosphere of the gathering. The Naat reciters included Muhammad Aamir Fayyazi, Mahmoodul Hassan Ashrafi, Muhammad Khawar Naqshbandi, Shahbaz Qamar Fareedi, Bilal Haider and others.
The proceedings of the Mehfil-e-Naat were conducted by Sahibzada Muhammad Rizwan Khalid, while Qari Syed Muzammil Hashmi had the honour of reciting verses from the Holy Quran.
On the second day, a Mehfil-e-Sama was held where renowned Qawwals of the country, Asif Ali Khan Santo and Muhammad Sami, performed along with their accompanists. The devotional recitations and Sama gathering created a deeply spiritual environment for the participants.
On the occasion, Syed Altaf Hussain Shah, Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah, Mufti Muhammad Hanif Qureshi, Abdul Razzaq Jami, Pir Ubaid Ahmed Ubaid Naqshbandi, Abdullah Gul, Pir Syed Shams Mashhadi and others addressed the gathering.
Federal Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, Khadim of Darbar Bari Imam Sarkar and Baba Kalu Sarkar Raja Sarfraz Akram, Dr Riaz Shahbaz Janjua, Raja Imtiaz Janjua, Dr Raja Asif Janjua, Malik Iftikhar Ahmed, Shafiquddin, Qari Ubaidur Rehman Satti, Umar Farooq Quddusi, Syed Bashir Shah, Raja Shehzad Janjua, Dr Haider Janjua, Abdullah Janjua, Raja Muhammad Ayaz, Ehsanul Haq Mian, Colonel Inam Rabbani, General (retd) Abdul Janjua (Sitara-e-Imtiaz) and Ziaullah Shah were also present.
Officials of the federal and district administrations, political and social personalities, religious leaders and a large number of devotees also attended the gatherings.
Fateha was offered and special prayers were held for the security, progress, prosperity, peace and stability of the country and the nation.
The Urs celebrations will continue until August 17, 2026, with thousands of pilgrims and devotees from across the country taking part in the events.
According to the administration, special arrangements have been made to facilitate the visitors during the Urs. Additional security personnel have been deployed, while monitoring of entry and exit points at the shrine and adjoining areas, traffic flow, parking and other arrangements have also been ensured. A large-scale Langar has also been arranged for the pilgrims.
The administration has appealed to citizens and visitors to cooperate with the administration and security personnel during the Urs so that the events may continue in a peaceful and organised manner.
