In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Population and with support from the Pandemic Fund, the WHO office in Egypt organized a four-day programme to advance biosafety excellence in public health laboratories.
The Biosafety workshop brought together more than 70 biosafety and biosecurity officers from public health laboratories representing 26 governorates, delivering comprehensive professional training at the occupational health level to improve routine practices and workplace safety.
This phase builds on an initiative launched in October 2023 to promote biosafety and biosecurity measures across Egypt. The ongoing effort highlights WHO Egypt and the Ministry of Health and Population’s commitment to strengthening laboratory capacity as a vital component of the national health system.
By focusing on practical skills, standards and occupational health principles, the biosafety workshop aims to equip officers to maintain safer laboratory environments and support national preparedness for biological risks.
