The Department of Medical Education, the School of Dentistry and the Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences at Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University brought students, faculty and community partners together for a symposium focused on Breast Cancer Awareness and sustainability. Held in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, the event carried the theme Pink Goes Green and linked health education with practical environmental measures.
Participants began with an awareness walk across the campus to highlight the importance of early detection and community solidarity. The symposium included a dedicated breast cancer awareness session where medical educators and clinicians discussed signs, screening and local resources, reinforcing the role of prevention and timely care in Pakistan.
An expert-led panel discussion explored how sustainability practices can be integrated into health initiatives, from reducing medical waste to promoting greener event planning. Panelists shared actionable ideas for institutions and youth groups to adopt sustainable approaches while maintaining effective outreach and patient support.
Community engagement was further symbolised by a bake sale organised by students and volunteers, demonstrating grassroots support and raising funds for awareness activities. The combined focus on Breast Cancer Awareness and sustainability reflects a growing local effort to pair compassionate healthcare with environmentally responsible practices in Islamabad and beyond.
