Canada Pakistan relations move forward as Canadian High Commissioner meets Law Minister to discuss legal reform, Case Management System and investment.

The High Commissioner of Canada to Pakistan, Tariq Ali Khan, called on Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar in Islamabad on October 29, 2025, in a meeting that underscored renewed emphasis on Canada Pakistan relations.

Senator Tarar warmly welcomed the newly appointed High Commissioner and set out Pakistan’s intention to deepen longstanding bilateral ties, highlighting legal reforms, strengthening the rule of law and the promotion of human rights as shared priorities central to advancing Canada Pakistan relations.

The Canadian High Commissioner informed the minister that several Canadian companies are exploring investment opportunities in Pakistan and both sides discussed practical avenues for collaboration and partnership. Senator Tarar reaffirmed that the Government of Pakistan is committed to providing facilitation to foreign investors to encourage sustainable economic engagement.

The minister briefed the High Commissioner on the recent launch of the Case Management System and the ministry’s plans to extend the system to provincial levels to improve judicial efficiency and case flow. Officials also discussed the upcoming Mining Conference scheduled to be held in Canada and the potential for mining sector cooperation and joint ventures.

Both delegations agreed to maintain continued engagement to translate these discussions into concrete steps that support investment, legal modernisation and stronger institutional links as part of broader efforts to reinforce Canada Pakistan relations.
