A group of prominent social and political figures from Union Council 79 G‑8 in Islamabad submitted their nomination papers today as part of preparations for the local government contest. The move marks an early start to campaigning ahead of the UC 79 elections, with candidates presenting service-driven platforms.
Those who lodged their papers included Muhammad Arsalan Masood Khan for chairman, General Councilor Safdar Ghori, Dilshir Advocate, Malik Abdul Sattar, Sardar Hasnain, Haseeb Gujar, Tufail Khan, Gufran, Niyamat Masih and Dawood Masih. Their nominations reflect a cross-section of local leaders aiming to represent diverse community interests in the upcoming UC 79 elections.
Muhammad Arsalan Masood Khan said he was contesting out of a spirit of public service and intends to rely on popular support to secure victory. He promised that, if elected, he would prioritise development works, the provision of basic services and practical solutions to long-standing local issues, stressing that his objective is service rather than power.
Candidates collectively urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to fulfil its constitutional duty by ensuring transparent, free and impartial polling so genuine representatives can emerge. They emphasised that credible elections are essential for local accountability and effective governance in UC 79.
Local residents welcomed the candidates’ registration, expressing hope that the leadership will translate campaign commitments into visible improvements. As the UC 79 elections approach, voters in the area will be watching for concrete plans and early action on infrastructure, sanitation and public services.
