Capital Hospital Diabetes Hosts World Diabetes Day

Capital Hospital Diabetes led a World Diabetes Day seminar by Dr Sarwar Malik; CDA chairman inaugurated new units and pledged department expansion.

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Capital Hospital, a seminar on World Diabetes Day was held with Head of the Department of Diabetes, Dr Sarwar Malik, leading the program. The event brought together hospital staff, medical specialists and members of civil society to focus on diabetes prevention and improved patient care across Islamabad.

The guest of honour, Chairman CDA Mohammad Ali Randhawa, presented shields to the hospital’s best-performing doctors and commended the diabetes team for their work. Chairman Randhawa also pledged strong support for the expansion of the Capital Hospital Diabetes department to enhance services for patients in the city.

During the ceremony, Executive Director Professor Naim Taj briefed the chairman on recent developments. The hospital inaugurated a surgical unit within the Department of Dermatology and a new neurology medical unit, marking Capital Hospital as the first government hospital in Islamabad to offer a dedicated dermatology surgical treatment unit.

Key medical staff introduced at the event included Director Admin Dr Surtaj Ali, Head of Medicine Dr Farhan Ali, gynecologist Dr Sheba, neurophysician Dr Waleed Iqbal, cardiologist Dr Abid Saeed, and diabetes specialist Dr Hina. Nursing Superintendent Ms Sumeena Ilyas Raja and focal person Shabbir Tunoli were also acknowledged for their roles in coordinating services.

Dr Sarwar Malik delivered a focused presentation on preventing diabetes that outlined practical steps for early detection and lifestyle measures. Both the Chairman CDA and Professor Naim Taj praised Dr Malik and his team, noting that their efforts have positioned Capital Hospital Diabetes as a leading provider of diabetes care among Islamabad hospitals.

The announcement of new units and the commitment to expand the diabetes department underscore Capital Hospital Diabetes’s drive to broaden specialist services and strengthen clinical capacity for patients across the federal capital.
