On World Diabetes Day, Chairman Capital Development Authority and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa was the chief guest at Capital Hospital Islamabad where he inaugurated the twin cities’ first public Neurology and Stroke Centre along with a Paediatric Dermatology unit and a new Telemedicine Department.
The opening was attended by Capital Hospital Executive Director Dr. Naeem Taj, Head of Endocrinology Dr. Sarwar Malik and specialists including Dr. Aiman Malik, Dr. Farhan, Dr. Sarfraz, Dr. Fatima Bilal, Dr. Hanan and Dr. Maria Shafi alongside the hospital’s medical teams. Their presence underlined the collaborative approach to expanding specialised care in the capital.
Chairman Randhawa emphasised that patients must remain the top priority and highlighted the importance of public access to quality medical facilities, timely diagnosis and advanced equipment. He praised the hospital’s focus on research and public health awareness, noting that improved services for diabetes, stroke and chronic illnesses strengthen community health and public confidence in the public sector.
Dr. Naeem Taj reiterated Capital Hospital’s commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care and said the new departments will support continuous innovation, academic research and specialised services. He stressed the role of a multidisciplinary approach and telemedicine in delivering modern patient-centred treatment across Islamabad.
At the close of the ceremony Chairman Randhawa expressed full support for the hospital’s future plans and paid tribute to the efforts of doctors and paramedical staff. He also joined the World Diabetes Day awareness walk, during which shields were presented to participating doctors and research findings from the event were shared. The new Neurology Centre is expected to enhance stroke care and neurological services for residents of the twin cities and surrounding areas.
