CCD Punjab – A Fresh Breeze of Public Trust and Justice
By: Zaheer Ahmed Awan
When law weakens and justice gets delayed, crime flourishes and public trust in the state begins to fade. In such times, if an institution takes swift and fair action, delivering justice to the oppressed, it feels like a breath of fresh air.The establishment of the Crime Control Department (CCD) by Punjab Police has recently played that very role reviving public confidence in law enforcement and justice. Today, criminals are fearful once again, realizing that the law is no longer asleep.
The survival of any society depends on an effective system of accountability, reward, and punishment. Where the grip of law loosens, the roots of crime grow deeper. Without the rule of law, the prestige of the state cannot stand firm. When the law treats both the powerful and the ordinary citizen equally, a nation prospers. But when justice is reserved only for the elite, the weak are left to fend for themselves.
Unfortunately, this balance had been lost in our society. Weak enforcement, political interference, and delayed justice had created despair among the people. Criminals, drug dealers, habitual offenders, and sexual predators roamed freely. Women, students, and children were no longer safe. Incidents of harassment and assault in markets, neighborhoods, and educational institutions had become common. Many victims’ families chose silence out of fear or shame, allowing criminals to grow bolder.
In such a suffocating environment, Punjab Police took a bold and commendable step by empowering the CCD (Crime Control Department) to combat these social evils swiftly and decisively. This initiative by the Punjab government and police leadership proved to be a historic and practical move. The CCD began operations with remarkable speed and efficiency, restoring public confidence in law enforcement.
The CCD took decisive action against sexual crimes, harassment, drug trafficking, armed robberies, and other serious offenses. Its rapid response has truly become a symbol of relief for the citizens. People now feel that justice is possible if the system acts sincerely and promptly.
History shows that whenever the law responds firmly, society moves in the right direction. There was a time in Pakistan’s early years when one legal order made criminals and hoarders surrender overnight. Today, a similar example is being revived through CCD Punjab. Restoring public trust is the foundation of any successful society, and CCD is achieving just that.
However, CCD must also act against those who misuse its name to exploit or intimidate people. Such individuals should be made examples of, to protect the department’s credibility.
The real challenge begins now. If CCD continues to perform without political pressure or external influence, Punjab’s law and order situation will improve significantly within months. The police can truly become protectors of the people only when they operate on the principles of merit, justice, and prompt response.
The Punjab government must ensure that the police remain free from political interference, strengthen investigations with modern technology, and guarantee immediate FIR registration and timely justice. Only strict adherence to legal principles and fast action can make public trust permanent.
CCD Punjab’s campaign proves that when the state acts with sincerity, no criminal however powerful can escape justice. If this momentum continues, the day is not far when citizens will once again see law as their protector, not their fear.
Peace is not established through the gun, but through justice. CCD Punjab has shown this truth in action. It is not merely a force! it is a renewed symbol of public trust, a light shining after a long darkness.
