According to the sources, 200 kiosks will be up for grabs in the upcoming auction, bringing the total number of vending points to 1,807 in the city. The kiosks will offer a variety of items such as juice, shakes, tea, coffee, fruits, vegetables, hamburgers, snacks, tuck shops, and decorations and gifts. The kiosks will be located at strategic places such as parking lots, playgrounds, parks, bus stops, and marketplaces.

The sources also revealed that the kiosks will have a uniform design that will match the overall theme and style of the city. The successful bidder will get a 10-year licence to operate the kiosk under this scheme. CDA Chairman Mengal clarified that no seating arrangement will be allowed at the kiosks as it might lead to encroachment on public land.

MCI Administrator Irfan Nawaz Memon said that the MCI will provide the successful bidder with a design for setting up the kiosk. He said that the auction will boost commercial activity and remove encroachments from Islamabad’s sidewalks and public spaces.
