Chairman Capital Development Authority and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa visited the CDA Model Nursery on Park Road to inspect progress on its upgrade into the new “Gardenia Hub” and received a detailed briefing on the facility’s nearing-completion developments and planned services.

During the visit, Randhawa, accompanied by Member Environment Asfandiyar Baloch and senior officers, toured the nursery’s various sections and reviewed ongoing works. Officials explained that the conversion into Gardenia Hub has entered its final stages and showcased the range of new facilities being installed.

The upgraded nursery will include dedicated flower shops and a combined training and research centre. Modern controlled, ventilated greenhouses have been constructed to provide optimal growing conditions and to support research and plant care. A state-of-the-art tissue culture centre will enable propagation of new plant varieties using advanced techniques, with the whole facility being developed to international nursery standards.

Randhawa directed that Environment Wing staff receive specialized training in plant care and protection to ensure proper maintenance of the upgraded nursery. He commended the team for their work on the development, including the flower shops and overall transformation into Gardenia Hub, and expressed confidence that the facility will meet Islamabad residents’ horticultural needs.

The plan also includes a specially designated display area for seasonal and off-season flowers, intended to showcase a wide variety of attractive blooms. Officials said the project will not only enhance the city’s appearance but also create employment opportunities and help position Islamabad as a regional centre for horticulture.
