CDA Takes Action Against Misuse of Quota System and Corruption Allegations

The Quota System is a mechanism used by the CDA to deal with urgent issues such as water supply, illegal construction, and sanitation in the capital. However, the system has been allegedly misused by some officials to embezzle funds and award contracts without proper scrutiny. The CDA is supposed to limit the expenditure under the Quota System to Rs. 500,000 per case, but some cases have exceeded this limit by several times.

In addition, the CDA has also revived an inquiry into a multi-billion scam case that was reported in 2022. The case involves the alleged misappropriation of funds by some CDA officials in connivance with contractors and consultants. The inquiry board will probe into the details of the case and recommend action against those found guilty.

The CDA has stated that it is committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in its affairs and that it will not tolerate any corruption or malpractice. The CDA has also appealed to the public to cooperate with its efforts and to report any suspicious or illegal activity to its helpline or complaint cell.
