A formal guard of honor was held at GHQ in honour of the Chief of Defence Forces, with troops from the Army, Navy and Air Force presenting arms for the occasion. Field Marshal Syed Aasim Munir, Nishan‑e‑Imtiaz (Military) and Hilal‑e‑Jurat, who serves as Chief of Army Staff and has been appointed Pakistan’s first Chief of Defence Forces, was the guest of honour.
The ceremony marked his assumption of the role of Chief of Defence Forces and was attended by the Chief of the Naval Staff, the Chief of the Air Staff and other senior military officials. Units from all three services took part to pay respects to the new Chief of Defence Forces.
The honour guard rendered a general salute to the guest of honour, after which Field Marshal Aasim Munir conducted an inspection of the troops. The events followed established ceremonial protocols at GHQ to mark the new appointment.
Addressing related matters, the Director General ISPR said the military does not seek to engage in discussions with political parties, reaffirming the institution’s position alongside the ceremonial proceedings for the Chief of Defence Forces.
