The Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights (PCCR) and the Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO) have announced a joint initiative to tackle urgent child protection issues in Pakistan. The partnership aims to address major concerns such as child trafficking, child labor, forced begging, and child abuse through a coordinated and evidence-based approach.

A meeting was recently held at Parliament House, chaired by Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, the Convenor of PCCR. Key officials from the National Assembly Secretariat and representatives from both organizations participated in the discussions. The participants recognized the growing need for collaborative efforts to identify the root causes of child exploitation and develop effective solutions.

As part of the collaboration, the PCCR and SSDO agreed to work together on a comprehensive report that will detail the scale, emerging trends, and existing gaps in laws and policies regarding child protection in Pakistan. This report will combine research and data to highlight areas requiring urgent attention and reform.

Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan underscored the importance of safeguarding children’s rights, stating that protecting children is not only a moral responsibility but also a national priority. She emphasized the necessity of ensuring that every child in Pakistan is free from exploitation and abuse.

The upcoming joint report is expected to play a crucial role in shaping legislation, guiding policy interventions, and supporting public awareness campaigns focused on the safety and well-being of children throughout the country.
